Once you have decided to drive a Dodge Durango, you will have to decide which model year to opt for. You should have no issue finding a 2021 or 2022 SUV for sale, especially with some help from Kevin’s Royal Auto. But which one is the better option for you?
The Big Differences
One of the most important considerations when choosing between the 2021 and 2022 Dodge Durango will be the differences between the two. Most of the changes are fairly minor, but a few are worth noting. The most important is that the 2022 model comes standard with more safety, convenience, and comfort features. These include rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring. The base trim also now features a standard third row. Of course, the starting price also increased.
The other notable change is that the SRT Hellcat trim has been discontinued. So, if you want an SUV for sale with that trim, go with the 2021 model. You won’t find it on the 2022 model.
Pricing Differences
As mentioned, the 2022 Dodge Durango comes standard with more features, but you will also have to pay a bit more for these upgrades. The price increase from the 2021 to 2022 model year is anywhere from $600 to $2,100, depending on the trim you choose. Unfortunately for those on a budget, the difference is the largest for the base SXT trim. This means you will have to decide if those additional features are worth the price (most drivers will likely say they are).
Some New Packages
As you compare the two model years of this SUV for sale, you will also notice the addition of the Plus Group Package for 2022. This package gives you forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
The GT Plus package now features leather upholstery complete with suede inserts on the SUV for sale. It also gives the Dodge Durango heated seats for the first and second rows, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and memory seats.
The R/T Plus package for the Dodge Durango now gives drivers Harman Kardon sound, Nappa leather upholstery, and forward collision warning, plus automatic emergency braking.
Enjoy Familiar Engines
The engine on the Dodge Durango won’t play a role in your decision. Both model years let you choose from three engines depending on the trim level. Enjoy a 293-or-295-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 as standard. The R/T comes standard with a 360-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 that is optional on the Citadel trim. Or the SRT 392 trim features a 475-horsepower 6.4-liter V-8.
